We’re proud to have received two medals from the 2022 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.  We entered two wines this year, and the competition was indeed stiff with 5,816 entries from nearly 1,000 wineries.

GOLD for 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

For the second year in a row, our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has received a Gold Medal from the prestigious competition. This is our Bordeaux blend from three single vineyards. The 2019 vintage is very special because it’s all Mount Veeder fruit – 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 4% Cab Franc.

Our winemaking style focuses on elegance and balance, and this wine delivers with a big, bright and bold structure. We describe it as youthful but muscular. It’s defined by a deep red color and a nose of dark fruits, graphite and black spices. The palate is richly textured with lively, structured tannins and layers of blackberry, cocoa, cardamom and toasted oak.  This Cab is still young yet very enjoyable right now. But if you have patience, you can definitely cellar it for a few years.  Mount Veeder wines benefit from aging!

SILVER for 2019 Conn Valley Cabernet Franc

Our newest Cab Franc was awarded a Silver Medal. The 2019 Conn Valley Cab Franc was sourced from a vineyard in the western foothills of Napa’s Howell Mountain. Conn Valley benefits from mountain-influenced cool nights and warm days making for late-season ripening and good acidity.

Deep ruby in color with a hint of purple, this elegant Cab Franc has pronounced aromas of black raspberry, blueberry and wilted roses. Medium to full-bodied, the lush palate reveals a myriad of red and black fruit layers and a hint of chocolate, all with a chewy frame and long perfumed finish that is seemingly endless.  This wine will age beautifully for 10-plus years.
