As our 2021 harvest approaches, let’s all do a collective ‘knock on wood’ to keep the wildfires from happening. The growing year has been pretty incredible. We’ve had a warm, not hot, summer with very few large heat spikes. The grapes on Mount Veeder and up in Conn Valley have been maturing very evenly.  A couple of cool periods in the past weeks have kept the acid levels up and allowed the grape flavors to mature without large jumps in sugar concentration.  What looked like a harvest that could be many weeks early has settled into a nice slow maturation that will make this vintage fantastic.

Now to the excitement about our new 2019 releases.

The 2019 Conn Valley Cabernet Franc is a big representation of our favorite varietal and is from a new vineyard source for us in the western foothills of Howell Mountain. The mouthfeel is big and smooth with a flavor profile that’s all about dark fruit flavors with balanced acidity. It’s ready to drink now but has the potential for aging well over 10 years.

The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comprises almost exclusively Mount Veeder fruit – 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 4% Cab Franc – and is another representation of the big flavor profile of the 2019 vintage. This wine can be described best by the four Bs – Big, Bright, Bold and Balanced. There are layers of blackberry, cocoa, dark spices and toasted oak. As with the Cab Franc, it has aging potential for many years to come if you want to wait.

We are excited to share these beautiful wines with you. We also welcome you for a personal visit with us at our new tasting salon in Napa or up in the vineyards on Mount Veeder.  Check out TASTE page for details and bookings or contact Jeff directly at: jeff@majusculewine.com
