We’re so happy it’s Spring because we need to get warm and dry out. It has been another wet and cool winter here in Napa, with about 70 inches (so far) of rain up on Mount Veeder. By comparison, we received about 60 inches last year. All this rain is great for the vines, and with fingers crossed, we hope for an amazing 2024 vintage for the Napa Valley.

Cab Francs from Mount Veeder

For our Spring Release we go back to 2021 which was spectacular and has produced some of the best wines from the Napa Valley. These three wines are no exception. And with two Cab Francs from Mount Veeder, it’s a treat to focus on our favorite grape varietal.

2021 Mount Veeder Cab Franc (82 cases produced): We haven’t made this one since 2018, so we’re excited to finally bring back our signature Cab Franc from the Wildcat Vineyard. It’s a nostalgic wine for us since it was our first official release four years ago. The flavor profile is typical for Mount Veeder Cabernet Franc – deep, dark blue and red fruit notes with a hint of brambly raciness. It drinks nicely now, especially with some decanting, and has a very long aging potential.

2021 RD Cab Franc Red Blend (76 cases produced): This is the second release of our Right Bank Bordeaux-style blend of mostly Cab Franc and Merlot. It’s fruit forward and plush with oh-so-smooth tannins. The blend is 50% Cab Franc from both the Wildcat and Saffron Vineyards on Mount Veeder, 35% Saffron Merlot and 15% Saffron Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a red wine for warm weather drinking served chilled.

Sparkling Wine from Sonoma Coast

2021 Blanc de Noir Sparkling (56 cases produced): The second vintage of our beautiful bubbles from the Sonoma Coast is bright and crisp with a fine and lively effervescence. Made in the traditional Champagne method, the 100% Pinot Noir gives it an incredible mouthfeel and super long finish. It’s indeed a celebration in the glass.

We can’t wait for you to try these wines. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about any of our wines or want to schedule a tasting.
